Advantages: boils quickly

Disadvantages: price

I was visiting my friend this week and was offered a cup of tea. IO watched my friend fill and put the kettle on; she was using a Kenwood SJ 680. This is a stainless steel jug style kettle. Most jug kettles are plastic only a few are made in stainless steel these days. Not sure how long my friend has had her kettle for where she bought it and how much it cost her. I looked on line this morning and found one at http://www.ukonlinesales.co.uk/html/kettles_and_co ff.html cost £31.50p.
At Amazon it’s from £19 but that’s a refurbished one and another that has a damaged box.
Compared to the price of plastic jug kettles this is expensive. To be honest I would like a stainless steel kettle but at double the price it’s not the best option for me.

This kettle does look quite attractive with its shiny steel body and black handle. Its not traditional shaped as I would really, really like but it is a jug.

This kettle jug fits into a circular power base which means the actual jug has no cord so you can take it across the kitchen with out the cable dangling.
This kettle is a 3kw power that means it’s a rapid boil (yeah the water for my tea was boiled quite quickly)
The kettle is of an average size it will boil 1.7 litres of water and as little as 200ml/ there is a water window so you can see how much water is in the kettle with out taking the lid off.
There is an easy to use on off switch and lid release button.
Overall I was quite impressed with my friend’s kettle.

Kenwood is a reputable manufacturer of kitchen equipment first established in 1947 they have been making kettles for many years. . They sold out to the De’Longhi Group in 2001.
Their products are known to be long lasting I had a Kenwood kettle 32 yrs ago as a wedding pressie that lasted many years not like some of my recent plastic jug kettles . Maybe next time I shall buy a Kenwood stainless steel one its probably false economy buying a cheaper kettle.
Oh well of to make a cup of tea now shame I have not got a shiny kettle to make it in .
