      Lakeland Travel Kettle

I used to have an old white travel kettle which lasted me years before it finally decided to give up the ghost and left me looking for a new one. I decided that instead of buying cheap I would pay a little bit extra for something that was going to be quality and hopefully last me as long as my previous one had.

I ended up buying it from Lakeland as I love Lakeland and find that their stuff is usually of a really high quality.

The kettle is made of plastic and stainless steel and is really cute looking. As well as the kettle it comes with the added bonus of two plastic beakers for tea and coffee as well as a canister which is divided in two for sugar and coffee granules to be stored. I love the beakers and the canister and it is nice that you get them for free with the kettle.

The kettle is easy to pack and it doesn't take up much room. It also isn't that heavy at only 500g in weight so I don't even notice it when I have it packed away. I have so far taken this kettle on holiday with me twice and to a caravan when I was staying in one for a week and have been really happy with it so far.

It boils fairly rapidly and holds enough water for a few cups of tea. Obviously the less water you have in it the quicker it will boil but even when it is full it doesn't take much longer than a normal kettle whereas my old travel kettle boiled well but took ages.

Once the kettle is boiled it switches itself off instead of just boiling dry like some other travel kettles I looked at where you had to manually switch the kettle off when it was boiled. Basically this is just a normal kettle but in miniature. It looks great and boils quickly and I have no complaints about it. The only sight thing that I can say about it is that it is on the expensive side for a travel kettle as it costs £22.99 but I do think it is of a high quality so is worth more than the basic cheap plastic models that you can get.

      A great little kettle

Following my aversion to planes we made the decision to start taking the ferry when we return to Ireland to see the in-laws. With this longer journey (which to me is so much more enjoyable than plane flights) we always get a cabin and so that developed into me making the most of the time.

As well as the laptop that gets brought along so I can either get some writing done or watch a movie on, the additional piece of kit I insist comes with us is the travel kettle.

I remember travel kettles from when I was little and my parents had one that didn't seem all that Travel-designed due to be fractionally smaller than a normal kettle! Thankfully they have come a long way and the one we have is travel size.

      [Description]
The kettle weighs just 500g and is a good size holding 500ml which is perfect for two people. With a metal body and plastic lid and handle for easy handling.

The kettle comes with two small, sturdy black plastic cups (no handles), two small plastic spoons and another little plastic tub with lid for sugar or coffee. This tub has a built in divider so that you can store sugar and coffee together.

It does not just have to be used for travelling, it makes a great permanent kettle for people who have smaller households and keeps their energy usage down.

      [Compact]
The two cups slip easily into each other and then the sugar tub stacks on top. These three and the two spoons all then fit perfectly inside the kettle to keep the whole thing neat and compact.

It comes complete with small a drawstring tote that the kettle fits snugly into (cable and all) allowing it to go into a bag or suitcase without taking up too much room.

      [Spec]
      Kettle Weight: 500g
      Wattage: 1kW
      Kettle Volume: 500ml

The kettle boils very quickly, so you are not left waiting for ages for a good brew!

      [Price]
We purchased our a few years ago and we've used it loads. It has held up well with all the travelling and even became our regular kettle for a time when our house kettle died. So we were able to continue with our brew making while we sourced a new kettle.

It is currently priced at £14.99 with Lakeland, reduced from £22.99

      [Supplier]
Lakeland supply great quality products at good prices, we have purchased many items from them into the Roomba iRobot vacuum and fold-down heated rack (both reviewed). We have never had any problems with Lakeland and they are quick to reply if you contact their Customer Services.

      [Customer Service]
When our kettle arrived, the two spoons were missing we inquired if we could have some replacements. They couriered a whole new kettle set over (spoons were included this time) and took back the original. No hassle or issues at all.

      [Conclusion]
If you are looking for a good quality, compact travel kettle this is a great buy.
