Advantages: Looks good and makes a blinding cup of tea!
Disadvantages: Only that if you are weak it may be a bit heavy - but only if you are weak!!
A few months ago I wandered into a Le Creuset shop and was in awe of all the beautiful cooking utensils around me!
I spotted this kettle across the shop - a beautiful black shiny old traditional kettle - that whistled - believe it or not it came home with me - and at around the £45.00 mark for a stove top, well branded kettle - not bad at all!
I love this kettle, and here's why :
1. It looks gorgeous compared to uglier modern kettles
2. You don't have to worry about having it near a plug socket
3. It is a lot easier to clean
4. You can actually hear the fact that your water is ready to go rather than having to stand around waiting - or not realising that the water is finished boiling - forgetting that you have done it and have wasted valuable pennies in electricity in the process!
5. The heat of the water is much hotter than from an electric kettle - don't ask me why - but it is!!
6. Again another don't ask me why, but when you make your tea of coffee it leave a lovely froth on the top of the drink like you see in the adverts - but never at home!
7. You are able to in this size kettle boil enough water for your day to day purposes - in one go you are probably able to make enough cups for 6-8 people - and that is plenty in one go in my opinion!
With reference to the other persons review on this kettle - I have not had any problems whatsoever with rust or the whistle falling out - so I reckon they just had bad luck with theirs - as my friends and mother also use this kettle and we are all very happy with it!
Summary: Will set off your kitchen beautifully!

- 01/07/09 Ahh yes, but patience is a virtue! And if you are only making one or two cups it takes virtually no time to boil! But thank you for your comments! |

- 01/07/09 The reason the water its hotter is because of its cast iron material. A good review here.
Personal ly with the cost of gas however I find electric kettles with lower watts do the job just as well and having used a similar Creuset kettle like this in the past it took ages to heat up. |

- 01/07/09 I had one of these for years and loved it - only problem was with the whistle - had to replace it twice. Also I used to boil far too much water for my needs every time, so have gone back to the more environmentally friendly electric version that shows you how much water you are boiling before you switch on. |
