After our very expensive Siemens kettle stopped working we went to town and I chose the best looking kettle around - the Magimix 11566 in brushed stainless steel. It also comes in polished crome, polished stainless steel with cream handle and polished stainless steel with grey handle. I chose the brushed effect as I thought it wouldn't show up fingerprints, plus it went with my other kitchen appliances. I probably should have read up on reviews first but unfortunately I chose it on looks alone. In terms of features it has a push button lid, concealed element, illuminated water level gauge and double wall insulation. The kettle holds approximately 1.7 litres of water and is fairly noisy when coming to the boil. It has an extremely good pouring spout so I have never spilt boiling water when pouring into small cups. The kettle is easy to clean - a wipe over with a damp cloth makes it look as good as new. However we are on our 3rd of these kettles as their seems to be a common fault with the push button lid. After about a year the lid would not stay shut making it impossible to use. After speaking to Magimix customer service and after emailing them a copy of the receipt w(thank goodness we had kept it) we were sent a replacement. However after a week the same thing happened and this one had to be replaced too. We have had our third for coming up to a year and are hoping this one won't have the same problem. If it does we know that Customer Service is excellent and as long as we can show the reciept it will be replaced free of charge within 3 years. I shouldn't really feel this way but I love this kettle and would buy it again and recommend it to friends. But you must keep your receipt so that if it does have a fault it can be replaced.
