A Basic Kettle That Works Like A Dream!

I've always thought this kettle boils very quickly even when it's filled all the way to the maximum capacity line, it's not rapid boil but when I make a comparison to similar basic kettles in my other workplaces I can see a marked difference. One example is a Tesco kettle that would have cost around the same price (I'm not referring to the Value model) but that takes longer to boil a cup worth of water than this one does for a full kettle. By the time I've emptied my couscous into a bowl, agitated it and thrown the wrapper in the bin the kettle will be almost at boiling point: it takes quite a long time to get from there to actually boiling but that might be just because I'm impatient by then! With the Tesco kettle I would have time to make a phone call and when I got back the kettle still wouldn't have boiled!

There is a small light that comes on when the kettle is switched on and that goes out immediately after the kettle switches itself off, the kettle I find is quite loud from as soon as the water starts to heat up so I wouldn't ever need to rely on the light.

The lid is a flip up type but the spout is wide enough that you can fill the kettle that way too, I prefer to open the lid and fill it like that because I'm always scared of splashing water somewhere where it shouldn't be! The lid opens quite wide so that when I put the kettle under the tap water doesn't hit any edges and start splashing and when you close it there's a little click to listen out for because it's quite a soft close so it's easy to think you've closed it all the way when you haven't, I've taught myself to listen out for the click and then I know it's safely closed and even when the water is boiling none is going to spit out of the top.

The water pours out of the kettle smoothly and does not spit or splash, something I'm glad for as a kettle I use in another office is so dangerous as when I'm pouring a thin trickle of boiling hot water always runs out of the spout at a funny angle and although I can avoid the hot water it seems I'm forever scalding myself on the steam that rises up from this water!

With this Morphy Richards kettle I can pour into even very small spaces like the neck of a bottle or even down the drain if I am cleaning it out with hot water.
