Advantages: Boils water quickly, pours well, looks good

Disadvantages: No window, hard to grip lid, can be noisy

I've had this kettle for about 6 months now, and so far I've been very happy with it.

This is a stainless steel and black cordless kettle, and is sometimes listed as the Russell Hobbs Ceylon Jug Kettle. It's a really nice looking kettle, and I've been very happy with its performance so far.

Performance
----------------

It's a good kettle and boils water very quickly. I tend to just put in as much water as I think I'll need, in an effort to conserve energy. However, it does have a big drawback, because there is no window into the kettle, and so it's impossible to know how much water is in there without taking off the lid. I estimate, but if you wanted to be precise, you'd have to measure out your water before putting it into the kettle, and allow for evaporation.

It's a very good pourer, and doesn't splash or dribble.

When it's empty, the kettle weighs 800 grams, so when it's full to capacity (1.7 litres) it weights 2.5 kilos or thereabouts. Since the handle is sturdy and comfortable to hold, this doesn't feel overly heavy.

It can be quite noisy.

Looks
--------

This is a very stylish kettle, and looks very nice on my kitchen counter. Because it is stainless steel, you need to keep polishing it, since marks show up easily on the outside.

Practicalities
----------------

The handle on the lid is quite smooth, and so it can sometimes be difficult to grip and pull off the lid because your fingers slip off.

There is a space under the base for winding any excess wire lead, so you don't have it snaking all over your counter.

Statistics
------------
1.7 litres capacity
Automatic switch-off
On indicator light
Concealed element
Removable and washable filter

Price
------

I bought this kettle at Argos, where it costs £19.92.

Summary: I like this kettle.

Excellent review. Did you have to fill the kettle and put it on the scales to answer Nar2's question? LOL
