After years of dealing with kettles that have small capacities and take about a century to bring them to the boil, I finally decided that enough really was enough, so I made the plunge and paid for the Russell Hobbs Kudos kettle model number 11416, which was what I believed would be a very good kettle to last me for a long time, I was right in some respects and wrong in many others.


Its a fairly good looking kettle with a modern contrasting black and chrome look, it has a cylindrical design with small port holes for checking the water level. The lid is hinged at the rear and can be lifted by a very clever pop up button/handle, that when inset is completely flush with the rest of the lid. The kettle is a cordless design which can be removed from the power base once boiled to pour the base.


The kettle is 3000 Watts power usage and has a flat boiling plate instead of the heated rings providing it with a much easier cleaning surface and much more even heating therefore, the boiling speed is very quick, especially when the water level is filled to boil for a single cup quantity and probably takes as little as 30 seconds. Its capacity is 1.7 litres which is 3 pints.


The bad points about this kettle appear whenever it is actually pouring the boiling contents, or attempting to pour. The poor design of the spout lacks the required angle to adequately pour the contents and ends up with boiling water spilling down the length of the kettle exterior ending up on the floor or counter instead of the cup.


It is fairly reliable having lasted me 2 years so far and counting and if it wasn't for the fact that not all the contents ends up where you intended for it to go, it would be a very good kettle.


Overall, this kettle is very effective at performing it tasks, with the exception of pour-ability, it is this problem which would lead me to not recommend you buy this and go for another model instead. I therefore give this product a Dooyoo rating of 3 stars out of 5.
