A while ago, our old kettle broke and because we at home drink lots of tea and instant coffee, it was necessary to purchase a new one. I found this inexpensive kettle Severin. Meanwhile we have used it many times and I like to share my experience with you.

The brand Severin I do not really know much about other then it sells house appliances. It's an German company which has been around for more than 110 years. It was founded by Anthony Severin in 1892. Since then it has been growing and now they even have offices in China.

This kettle has a compact yet stylish look. The main color of the kettle is black with a glossy finish and the side window (where you can see how much water you have in the kettle) has a silver frame. The handle of the kettle is slightly angular but it lays very easy in the hand and makes it easy to pour water. My whole hand fits around the handle, which I really like. Furthermore on the side are the quantities of water you can measure.

You can open the top, making it easier to fill the kettle with water. When you turn the kettle on, a red light will turn on, on the side. When the water is cooked the kettle will turn itself off and also the red light goes off. To turn the kettle on you have a round push button, which is easy to press and of good size. The kittle stands on a stainless steel plate and the cord is about 30 centimeter long.

If you want to make a quick cup of tea, it is annoying when you have to wait long before the water is boiled. I therefore usually only have about half a liter of water in the kettle which then only takes about one minute to boil. When you put the maximum of one liter in the kettle then it can take up to two minutes.

My previous kettle made quite some noise when the water reached its boiling point. This kettle is a lot quieter than my previous kettle.

This kettle was not expensive, less than 30 pounds. I personally think the look of this kettle is good, just simple and compact. The kettle is fast in terms of cooking time and also has the much needed protection (boil-dry protection and overheating protection). A great kettle to use!
