I bought this kettle from my local tescos, i needed a new one but wanted one with rapid boil and preferably one which wasnt plastic as i dont think they last very long. I looked online and found this kettle at a bargain it was reduced from £20.00 to £15.00 and it was stainless steel, it also lights up when it boiling to indicate that and it has dry boil protecting so i definately thought this was a bargain.

I took the kettle home tested it and found that the switch didnt work, it wasnt the fact that it did'nt boil it was the fact the switch didnt click in so the minute you let your hand go it would then stop working or boiling. I took the kettle back the same day and the technician person (who was extremely rude) went to test it in the back room, he then came out and said that the kettle was in perfectly good working order, which it clearly wasnt, i refused to accept this and did argue my point, though i just a cocky answer and a look asif to see i was incredibly stupid, i explained that i had tested this prodcut on numerous plugs and it wasnt the actual fact it wouldnt boil it was the fact the switch wouldnt click. Regardless the technican would not exchange or refund my money as i had used the kettle (well obviously, thats how i found out it wasnt working) i took the kettle home and a couple of times it clicked in but the majority of the time it didnt. I did ring the cusotmer service centre whom were extremely helpful and very nice but I'm afraid i was very embaressed and upset with the whole situation as i was made to feel like a complete idiot infront of a que of people. Another thing that i was very appalled by was that the technician put a very hot kettle in the box so when i went to touch it, it burned my fingers, thats health and safety for you isnt it. The technican had clearly just held the button down. The thing i have definately learned from this experience is never buy an electric product from tescos again, and always get them to test the prodcut infront of you in the shop as you may be subjected to being called a lyer and made to feel very intimidated .
