Disadvantages: Not so great lookin
I bought this Tesco value kettle purely as a spare in case anything happens to my one as there is nothing worse than getting up in the morning to find that your kettle has broken and not knowing when you are going to be able to go out and buy a new one.
I think I only paid £5 for it and it is currently available for £5.99 on the Tesco direct website.
Although it is a fantastic price I would never have this as my main kettle as it just doesn't match the aesthetic that I am going for in my kitchen but it is pretty plain and non offensive so would be good for a student or people who don't have much money to spend buying a fancier looking kettle. It is plain white and made from plastic and isn't actually as ugly as you might expect given the price of it.
It is also a pretty decent kettle for the money. It is cordless which is a bonus for the low price and has a decent enough capacity at 1.7 litres.
There is a side window so that you can see exactly just how much water you are putting it up to the maximum of eight cups of water.
The lid of the kettle is hinged so it is easy to open and close and doesn't really get stuck or become difficult to swing open and the hinge is nice and smooth. The spout isn't overly large but it is still wide enough for my tap to go into as let's be honest this is how most of us fill our kettles up isn't it?
The kettle 2.2 W of power which doesn't really mean a lot to me but when using it the kettle boils quickly and it also has a safety switch on the boil switch meaning that it turns itself off when boiled so there is no fear of the kettle dry boiling if you haven't put enough water in or forget you have it on.
Although I wouldn't have this kettle out on display all the time I do think it offers remarkable value for money and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. It does absolutely everything that a more expensive kettle does and it does everything well and is well made and constructed but just isn't to my own personal tastes due to its design. However design isn't everything and this kettle has done me perfectly well a few times whilst my more expensive kettles have broken and I have been waiting to replace them.
Summary: I recommend this
