derek-a Yamaha PSR-3000: ... was first introduced to keyboard playing in the form of a piano when I was around 6 years old. My two elder sisters were both learning to play with a local music teacher and whilst they practiced I was fascinated by the sounds coming out of our old iron-framed piano and couldn’t help but “play along” with them on the lower or upper part of the keyboard, much to their annoyance. My parents decided that it was obvio...

... bought this keyboard with the intention of being able to experiment with composition. Although highly priced I have found it to be ideal for this and the instrument sounds it produces are increadible. However when playing it as a piano, the touch is poor and unrealistic, and if this is your intention it would be much more advisable to stick to a real piano. However with it being fairly lightweight it is an ideal keyboard for performance with a variety of functions....

... you own any kind of music software that would vastly benefit from a MIDI controller to input those notes and turn those knobs, this is perhaps the product for you if you ve yet to invest in one. I can t recommend it more if you need a portable solution and don t require many keys and knobs. M-Audio s Oxygen8 is one of the first and still most popular mobile MIDI controllers out there. It s part Kenton Control Freak (a box that featured an array of knobs) and part 25 note keyboard (with a range that can be extended or reduced up to 5 octaves by simple button presses). The light plastic, silver bodied device can comfortably sit on your lap (making it a viable alternativ...

katygriff Pianos, Keyboards & Synths in general

A piano is a large musical instrument that is played by using your hands to tap notes and your feet to press pedals. - How does a piano work? The mechanism of a piano is very simple. When a key is pressed it will activate a hammer which will in turn strike a string which creates the tune. The strings vibrate freely because a mechanism called the damper is released from the string when the hammer strikes. ...
