Pianos, Keyboards & Synths in general:
... a pianist. But not in public. Only to those whom I can trust not to laugh, or at least not obviously, when I play. I've got to Grade 7 ABRSM, which is pretty good. I also play the violin to Grade 7 ABRSM so I have something to compare against. I began playing the piano whe I was about 10, which makes it 8 years I've been playing. The first 4 or 5 were long, slow, boring and annoying. You look at th... Read the full review: So you thought you'd play piano, eh? by imagin8or |

Solton in general ... have been playing keyboards & organs for the past 10years everyone knows the excited feeling of setting up the new instrument & getting used to all the sounds & rhythms. Then the let down gradually as it wont quite do that bit extra that we want.then along came the Solton Ketron X expander it goes through a Lowrey organ perfectly whereas the Technics Smac & the Roland RA 90 wouldnt let the voices through except very quietly. It has 199 rhythms, nothing very new in that, but the are very full right from the basic patten through 4 fill ins leading up to the full patten sound. A disk drive is on board of course but instead of just buying rhythm di... Read the full review: cant have too many rhythms by wendyhelen |

Yamaha PSR-D1 ... Yamaha DJX So what is this exactly? It’s the first of Yamaha’s new keyboards aimed specifically at creating dance music. As opposed to the PSR series which had voices and patterns that were more general, this keyboard has Synth and Bass Voices, special drum kits and sound effects. In all, it has 155 voices, plus the general midi set. You can also use a sampled sound as another voice, and the keyboard can record this for 6-8 seconds. What can I do with it? All kinds of things! The keyboard had midi compatibility and can be used with popular sequencers such as Cakewalk, Cubase and Logic. This creates a powerful system, combining the flexibilty and de... Pianos, Keyboards & Synths in general ... piano is a tremendous piece of equipment. It has the greatest range of an instrument. People will say that a violinist has a hard job keeping in tune but the synchronisation on a piano cannot be matched by any other instrument. Most composers built their foundations on the piano. The likes of Liszt, Mozart and Chopin were all acclaimed concert pianists of their times and have written some of the most difficult pieces of music for the piano. When played correctly, the piano can produce sounds which are unmatched by the greatest orchestras. If you are considering taking up the piano, be sure to take it up for over 5 years. Anything below this will probably only keep... Read the full review: Outclasses every other instument. by zygnoth |
