Roland FP-2 ... used to own a Roland FP2 but have now upgraded to the Roland FP4. The Roland FP2 was my first ever stage piano and, I can tell you, I was not disappointed! The piano is very transportable - I could easily fit it into the front seat of any car (just put one end in the foot well beneath the glove box and have the other on the head rest of the passenger seat!) or, if necessary, could carry it short distances (like 10 minutes up the road to the University Student s Union). The piano also sounds great - a very bright, crystal clear grand piano tone. Roland FP-4 ... have owned a Roland FP4 for just over one year now. I have been thoroughly delighted with the instrument. Previously, I owned a Roland FP2 and upgraded to gain access to some of the exciting features of the FP4. Let s begin with the basics. It s highly transportable (fits in any car - even a Ford Ka if you know how!) and extremely simple to set up (I ve had all number of children and adults have a go on it). The in-built speakers are an absolute blessing. The sound quality is very reasonable - certainly not enough to fill a hall, but they manage a fair sized living room easily. Roland Keyboards in general ... to Hampshire to teach a couple of days a week. This meant that I had to leave my beautiful Bechstein upright piano behind. This meant that I needed an instrument to practise on in Devon but it had to be something on which I could teach on for eighteen months whilst separated from my "real" piano. John, not long after we became engaged bought me a lovely present. It was a Roland HP 137R digital piano. Obviously any electric, digital piano is not going to compare to a really good upright or grand acoustic piano but there are times when it isn t possible to have a "real" piano and these can be a very useful alternative or back up.
