Advantages: Looks very nice
Disadvantages: Keys a little Clunky
The Apple 'Pro Keyboard' comes in two different models. The first of which is the wired version (which connects via USB), and the second is the bluetooth version which takes four AA batteries and connects wirelessly.
This review relates specifically to the bluetooth keyboard - which I previously owned.
Looking rather stylish with a transparent plastic surround and white keys, you can tell instantly that this is a product designed by Apple. There is a slight curve from the back to the front of the unit which supposedly makes it more ergonomic to use.
I actually find the keys a little 'clunky' with this model, and it doesn't feel as pleasing to type on as the newer version with the aluminium frame.
As I mentioned earlier, the keyboard takes four AA batteries which fit in underneath the unit. These can actually run out fairly quickly - even with high quality rechargeables. I also notice that Apple's redesigned bluetooth version of this model only takes three AA's - so I imagine it's better at conserving power.
I had a long and happy use from the Apple Pro Keyboard until it mysteriously broke down a few weeks ago. It must have been something to do with the bluetooth, as my iMac suddenly stopped being able to 'detect' it.
If you see one of these going fairly cheaply on eBay, then I suggest giving it a go. Despite the couple of negative aspects which I have mentioned, it's still a beautifully designed piece of equipment which is unlikely to break down as mine did.
Summary: Not bad at all
