Advantages: Soft to type on, comfy on desk and comfy to use, well designed, good colours
Disadvantages: None that I have found
We have recently had new computer installed in my workplace. This has been a big positive for most of us as our old systems were just really slow. The new computer has meant the works,. We have had new monitors, new screens and new keyboards. It was quite strange having the new keyboard, I was so used to the feel of my old one it has taken a little bit of getting used to but now I have been using it for a couple of months or so it feels like I have always had it so I wanted to write a review on the keyboard so I could share my thoughts on it. I am far from a technical expert but seeing as I am at work full time, in fact more hours than I am meant to work some days and for 5 days a week I spend so much time bashing away on the keys that I wanted to tell others about it!
The cost to the Company was a bulk buy of keyboards so I am not that sure on the price we paid but after doing a little research online I have found that the keyboard which is a Hewitt Packard Standard Keyboard will cost around the £15.00 to the £20.00 mark, this was from places like Amazon but I am sure it can be brought from places like PC world as well.
The actual look of the keyboard is really nice. I like that it is a black design as it does not show the dirt as much! There is also some silver buttons on there; it just looks really modern and a nice piece of equipment to have on your desk. The actual dimensions of the keyboard are that the width is 45.7cm and the depth is 16.2 cm and I am guessing this is an average size at it looks the same as my old one. As I mentioned I am not great on the technical specifications but this plugs in by a USB connection and there is plenty of cable to allow the keyboard to sit where you want.
The actual display of the keyboard is great. I am not a touch typist so I do tend to look at the keys now and again and all keys have a white marking on them and they all stand out really well. The keyboard has a basic keyboard set of keys, a row of buttons above this, the 'F' keys if you like and then to the right of the letter keys is the number pad. This is really important to me as I use a lot of figures in my job role and it is really easy to use.
The keys on the keyboard are quite soft to use, at first they felt really light but I soon got used to this, it makes imputing figures really easy on the key pad and I felt no risk of sprain or anything. There is no bashing of the keys and so typing is really quiet as well. This keyboard is really comfy to operate and it is so gentle.
When it comes to cleaning the keyboard I just give it a wipe down with some specialist wipes we have at work every couple of weeks or so. I tend to tilt the keyboard as well so that any surface dirt or bits fall off but as this keyboard is mainly black in colour you really do not see the dirt!
In summary, I only have positive words to say really about this keyboard, if you are looking at changing or a new style then this one is great. All my colleagues are happy with their keyboards and the well designed layout and good soft touch keys make it a great buy.
I give this 5 out of 5 stars
Thank you for reading.
