Advantages: Build quality. Reliability. Ergonomics. Price. Battery life. Does not disappoint!

Disadvantages: Works best with line of sight to base. Random battery time for mouse.

I spent a lot of time researching which wireless mouse and keyboard combo would be best for me. I had heard that mice go through batteries quite quickly so I wanted one with a rechargeable mouse and a base station for the mouse. This is probably the cheapest that fulfills these requirements but is by no means the least! It cost £30 from eBuyer.

Batteries:

It comes with a rechargeable battery pack for the mouse but this could be replaced with two ordinary AA rechargeable batteries. It also comes with two alkaline AAA batteries for the keyboard of which I am still using nearly a year later! The mouse sometimes says it needs to be charged (red LED comes on) after not much use but I found if you pop its battery out then straight back in it will then not bother you for weeks. The mouse charges very quickly and when it genuinely has run out of juice you will know about it! When the mouse is charging its LED is green and when fully charged simply goes out.

Range:

My base station is on my PC which sits under a desk. With this limited line of sight it works well up to about 3 meters away. Put a stack of cushions in the way though and it won't work very well at all (not moving much and not registering button clicks). The keyboard is not so sensitive to this and has never missed a single keystroke. Providing a good line of sight to the base; the mouse never misses a click or the tiniest of motions of the pointer.

Features:

The media buttons on the keyboard worked straight of the box for me on Windows XP although it does come with a CD if you need it. The base station will plug in through one USB socket or the usual green and purple PS/2 sockets. All adapters are supplied so you can use this on any PC. It also comes with an AC mains adapter to power it but it will work from the USB on your computer. I'm not sure if it's a good idea or even possible to charge the mouse from the USB only connection!

Ergonomics:

Both the mouse and keyboard are very nice to use. The keyboard has fairly light touch keys that are quiet to use. It looks the part with shiny gloss black ends and is not too big or chunky so you can store it easily when not in use. The mouse wheel spins nice and fast for web pages and is very comfortable to hold due to its sleek profiling. This is good enough to use for online games with the mouse on the sofa or bed beside you.

Summary: Besides been the best economical choice this really is a great product that suits many applications.
