Advantages: Wireless is nice, good feel to keyboard

Disadvantages: Function keys don't work

The Logitech Cordless set we have is the Logitech S510 Cordless Keyboard and mouse.

First, the advantages. I like the keyboard, it's sturdy and easy to use. I don't think the fact it's cordless makes that much difference, but nobody needs more cords on the desktop.

The mouse is fine, ergonomic, pretty. And cordless is more important in a mouse than in a keyboard. But - we never seem to use it. The movement on our other, corded (Logitech iFeel) mouse is just a lot nicer, somehow.

The big problem, though, is the function keys just don't work. We're running Windows, it's a perfectly normal computer, the keyboard works absolutely fine, otherwise, but the function keys do nothing.

We never end up using the special buttons on the keyboard. I've just now tested the music buttons on the side. The Music one opens up the Windows Media Player (why??). The play/pause button does work with iTunes, at least, as well as presumably the Windows Media Player. The play/pause button doesn't work with VLC, which is our normal media client on the computer.

I'm not sure what the rotate and zoom buttons work with. I'd find working function keys to be more useful than zoom!

The reciever for the wireless (infrared?) signals from the keyboard sits on top of the monitor. If a cat knocks it off, the keyboard stops working, which is a bit of a pain. The keyboard does give lots of warning (a flashing light on the keybaord) of when the batteries are running low - it took at least a year for us to use up ours, and we use the computer a lot, so that's good.

Summary: Probably not worth the price
