Advantages: Can use at a distance from the PC, No wires cluttering up the desk
Disadvantages: Logitech adapters are wired differently to all standard adapters
I have had this keyboard and mouse for about one and a half years now, and it has made my life a lot easier. If you have two PCs but don't want the desk cluttered with keyboards, this is a must have. Just buy a switch box that has sockets for keyboard, mouse and monitor and you can run both units with just one mouse, keyboard and monitor. There is one problem when doing this. The wiring inside the green PS2 adaptor socket is wired differently to all other types of gender changer. When plugging it straight into the PC it doesn't matter because the drivers handle everything, but when routing through a switch box, the wiring gets mixed up and dosen't work. The only way you can get it to work is to get another Logitech socket from a friend who dosen't need theirs because logitech don't sell them separately in England as I found out by contacting them through their website. For this reason you need to treat these adapters like gold dust, because if you lose them and later find that you need them (eg when you get a new PC), you can't buy them again. I am a heavy user of my PC and I find that I have to change the batteries in the mouse every other month, which can be a pain in the wallet. Make sure you use branded batteries as super market own brands last only about a month. (I have started using energiser and they seem to perform well in this unit). The other big advantage of this piece of equipment, however, is that you can use the keyboard and mouse at a distance from the computer, so you can work from your armchair or bed if your PC is in your bedroom. Just change the screen resolution to 640X480 so you can see what you are doing. All in all, if you generally buy things to make life easier, you can't go far wrong with this and if you are a heavy internet or just PC user, you will not regret spending this ammount of money.

- 21/06/01 I use my PC every day for many hours and find the batteris last a good 3 months - the trick is, don't replace them when it says so as they go on for a good month after the software asks your to replace them!!!
Agree, decent batteries are required.

- 19/06/01 If you've got to change the batteriesa so often I think I'll stick with my trusty 'hockey puck' mouse. Until I get frustrated with it and throw it across thre room that is! |
