Advantages: Beautiful, Responsive, Functional
Disadvantages: Lock indicators on receiver, Changing functions gets confusing, Mouse life
The second you open this box you'll gasp at what your eyes behold.
The Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse set looks sexy in an ultra-modern black and silver design.
This set is good looking and works well. The keyboard has multi-functionality and the hot keys can be re-assigned to suit your needs, whatever they may be.
The mouse works from more than 3 inches away, which is a nice bonus with a wireless set. In fact the mouse works beautifully although with the set price at nearly £100, is the mouse enough to buy the set for?
Well, obviously not, no but that doesn't mean the whole set isn't worth it. The keyboard is pretty darn good too. There have been some minor complaints of a slight lag, but I haven't experienced any real difficulty with it.
There are downsider to this which make it difficult justifying paying the asking price when there are more effective keyboard/mouse sets than this for the same or better still less money.
The keyboard doesn't actually have the usual Function Lock, Caps Lock or Scroll Lock indicator lights. They are there, but they're on the receiver and it's probably just as quick to try typing than to look at the led.
Whilst you can change the functions, you obviously can't change the labels on the buttons which are labelled as the original function.
The mouse will need recharging every couple of days, but that's got to be better than keep buying batteries hasn't it?
The set is compatible with Apple MacOS X, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Microsoft Windows XP but again there has been trouble for some with getting this to work with Apple MacOS X.
All in all, this set would be worth the money if it was more like £50-£60 instead of £100. The mouse is a dream, but there are minor gripes with the keyboard and for this money you don't want gripes, even minor ones.
My advice? Look for something a little cheaper or wait for the price on this one to drop a little.
