Advantages: Great value, great functions, reliable
Disadvantages: none
I first came across this nifty keyboard and mouse set when we visited my parents a few months ago. I liked what I saw so much that I had to buy one myself.
While the keyboard will not win any awards for cutting edge design, what you do get for only fifteen pounds is a wireless keyboard and mouse combination that is easy to use, reliable and something that will make a massive difference to how you use your home computer.
There are no driver cds to install, you just open the box, plug the dongol in to a USB port at the back of the pc, insert the batteries and you are away. The kit has an amazing range, up to 8 metres; you could easily operate it in the next room, should you really want to.
The slim, compact keyboard has twelve multimedia buttons which you can press for one-button access to a number of applications. You have buttons for an internet browser, email, favourites, even the windows calculator. On the right-hand side of the keyboard you have the rest of the multimedia buttons where you can control your default music player.
The mouse provided is an ergonomically shaped 5-button optical mouse giving the user fantastic levels of control, with lots of options at the fingertips. The dongol has no problem 'talking' to the mouse and I have had no issues with connectivity. Another plus point is the battery life. I have had one cordless mouse before and it was very thirsty and would drain two AAA batteries in about six weeks. Due to the latest power saving technology I have had this set for six months now, without needing to change the batteries once.
If anyone is reading this review wondering whether to get a wireless keyboard and mouse set I would say that this set is a good place to start, particularly if you are on a budget. Fifteen pounds for the whole set is in my opinion an absolute steal. You can probably get a set with better performance ratings, but I would say anyone apart from a hard-line pc gamer would be more than happy with the Trust Xperttouch Wireless Optical Deskset.
