Ikea Kalas Cutlery
by Taz123456
~~ OH HOW I LOVE IKEA!~~
For years now my family have been a loyal Ikea customer, I remember many visits to our nearest Ikea as a young child. My parents bought all of their furniture from there, as well as cutlery and other household decorations. If Ikea was located a little nearer to where I live, then I am sure I ... would be a frequent customer; but due to the long distance we have only manage to shop at Ikea couple times a year.
~~ PRICE ~~
There are countless times where my nephews plastic cutlery have gotten lost, as he loves playing drums with them they seem to get lost a bit too often! There when I was at Ikea not that long ago, I remember coming across the Kalas Cutlery set. The price instantly got my attention, selling at a price of 89p for a set of eighteen is great bargain that I just had to get. Especially with them getting lost so easily, I was more than pleased that I did not have to fork out a lot of money. There are also matching plates, bowls and mugs available for the same price, so I couldn't help myself and bought a set of each!
~~ DESIGN & EXPERIENCE ~~
The design is fairly simple yet not bland, the cutlery are nice and colourful and have a nice modern design that is different to the standard cutlery often seen for sale. The colour and design made this even more appealing to me, as I new it would be great for my nephew to get excited over the different colours and the cool design of the cutlery.
In the each plastic set you get 18 cutleries; there are six spoons, six knifes and six forks. All are colour coded with pink, yellow, light blue, orange, dark blue and green colours, which is great for my nephew who loves colourful things. My nephew is now two years old, and these were sized perfectly for him. The spoons can hold a nice amount of food without any sliding off and can easily fit into my nephews mouth, and
the same goes for the knifes and forks.
The spoon is around 14 cm in length and is perfect for little hands, the knife and forks are also sized perfectly with the knife 15cm and the fork 14cm. The knife has also been designed well so that it is not too sharp but just the right sharpness to be safe for my nephew and also able to cut through food.
~~ CONCLUSION ~~
Overall I would highly recommend these to any one who has a one or two year old mouth to feed. I would not recommend this to be suitable for any child under one years old as I personally think the size is a bit big for those small mouths. However in conclusion these are of great quality and design with a bargain price tag. Read the complete review |

Ikea Kalas Cutlery

These Ikea cutlery sets are fab value - they come in a pack of 18 pieces - 6 sets of a knife, fork and spoon, and co-ordinate with the plates, bowls and cups also available in the Kalas range.
The set costs under £1, so they are great value - ours have currently lasted five years. There is slight deterioration of the plastic ... from wear and tear / dishwashing, and some of the pieces have that "whitish" look to the plastic where they have been used a lot but they are still great to use and to be honest I only noticed this when I bought an extra set and then looked at them side by side.
The forks are a good size for children of all ages - when mine were under 2 they were perhaps a bit big, but as soon as they progress from the "weaning spoon" age these are fab - in fact they are ok for adults too, e.g. when on a picnic. The spoons are particularly good, while the knives are perhaps limited in that they are not very sharp and don't cut very well, but are good for pushing food onto the fork or spreading butter. This is why I have given 4* rather than 5*, but in many ways it is actually a plus as they are safe for kids.
Overall, these cutlery sets are the best plastic ones we have had, and also the cheapest. They are great value and will last years and be really useful if you have kids or need picnic cutlery (we leave a knife in the car for emergency pate spreading - don't ask!) Read the complete review |
