It is quite well made too, but it just needs too much attention and my daughter soon got bored of it and the batteries were .. erm .. misplaced <ahem> ! It is a toy that demands attention. You program its inner clock, so it sleeps and wakes up at a reasonable time, then it needs to be fed, given a drink, given medicine and so on. There are several accessories which come with the doll, including a toothbrush, cup and various items of food. These have metal bit...more

We bought Amazing Amy for my daughter last Christmas (1999), she was then aged 6 1/2. As with most children, she had been watching the adverts and mentioning various things she would like for Christmas and we decided to buy Amazing Amy, as it seemed to be something a bit different and not just another doll. It is a beautiful looking doll - long blonde curls, a pink and white checked dress and a lovely smile - not demonic looking, like some dolls seem to be ! This doll, wakes up at a certain time, and a bit like my hyperactive son, doesnt shut up when she wants something, she goes on and on and on.... really ...

Just before Christmas I wanted to buy my daughter a really good doll which spoke to her (so I wouldn't have to) - only joking! The best one I had read about was Amazing Amy. This cost approx £50 and promised to speak over 10,000 phrases. I was so excited about this - more so than my daughter who would have probably been just as happy if she spoke 1. There is a timer on the doll which you set for waking and going to bed at night. At the times you specify, the doll will say things like change my clothes mummy, or feed me mummy. Also at meal times it requests food which has to be placed in its mouth correctly. If the magnet at the end of the spoon does not ...
