Advantages: Quick, convenient, easy to assemble

Disadvantages: Unclear instructions, arm ache, milk gets drawn up into breast pad . . .

i intended to breastfeed from the day i discovered i was pregnant, and little did i know how demanding it would be! Although obviously, there are many good points to feeding by breast, sometimes you just need a break...

My mum bought this for me just after my daughter was born to use to express milk for storage, or for when i just needed a break from feeding 24/7.

To be completely honest, it took a while to get the hang of this product. I assembled it without many problems, but the instructions failed to emphasise that there is a vital part of this device - a small circular rubber thing - without which, or if it is not attached properly -the pump simply does not work. I did not discover this until a few weeks of frustrated pumping!

I would advise that this is a product that requires a bit of patience. Once i got the 'knack' however, the product came into it's own. I can pump, on average, 200ml in about 20minutes, which is superb if I need to go out quickly!.

This product also comes with containers, which can be used both as feeding bottles and as storage containers for refrigeration and freezing. There are also teats which can be attached these containers for feeding, so there is no need to transfer the milk into special feeding bottles.

However, the disadvantage of this is that the containers can only be used for a maximum of 4 times, after which they must be binned, so you have to by the refill packs at £7 a go. I suppose that one way around this is that you can attach the normal plastic AVENT feeding bottles to the pump, and these can be used for longer periods of time! This is something i cottened onto after a while! (They dont tell you this)

Overall, this is quite a good option for those women who wish to express milk, but cannot afford the more expensive electric option. It also builds muscle tone in your arm too so you get a mini workout!! You should see my muscles! ;)

Summary: Good, practical pump ideal for expressing and travel!
