Advantages: Fast way of expressing milk for your baby

Disadvantages: Milk may leak out of pump when expressing

I bought an Avent Isis Breast Pump just before I had my daughter. So that if I went out and someone else was looking after her, they would be able to feed her my milk.

I looked at alot of different pumps and felt that this would suit me best, it wasn't pricey, was a well known and popular brand and seemed simple to use.

I thought it was very easy to get the hang of after taking it apart and putting it together a few times. You are able to attach bottles to the pump this allows you to express your milk directly into feeding bottles or container. In my opinion I would say the best time to express your milk is in the morning after feeding your baby. I feel that this was the best time because I found that if I did it later on in the day between feeds, I would not have enough milk left to satisfy my baby's tummy.

I got mine from Boots, it came with 20 AVENT Ultra Comfort Disposable Breast Pads which found to be one of the best breast pads around, they are very soft and absorbent. It also came with spare parts, 2 extra soft newborn flow teats, 2 bottle stands/funnel covers, 2 breast milk containers - feeding bottles (125 ml/ 4 oz) and a teat travel pack. In the box there was a number of leaflets, about breast feeding, now to use and look after your breast pump, about AVENT Ultra comfort disposable breast pads, other AVENT accessories e.g. Bottles, soothers, sterilises, bottle warmers, bottle travel bags, nipple cream, breast protectors and milk/food storage containers.

With the Avent Isis manual breast pump you control the level, rhythm and speed of suction. It mimics baby's suckling which creates a steady flow of milk. It has soft massage cushions that flex in and out as you pump, which stimulates a fast and natural let-down.

Some mothers don't feel comfortable breastfeeding in public, therefore by using this breast pump and expressing milk you are able to feed you baby your breast milk while you are out and about.

Expressing milk so that your baby can be fed your breast milk when your not there is not the only reason for using this pump. It also help if your breast are painful and engorged, it offers instant relief.

In my opinion this is a great product for a mother who is breast feeding, however it does have a few little problems, milk can sometimes leak under the let-down cushions when expressing, which may drip on you. Also it may take abit of getting used to for some women.
