Advantages: non spill
Disadvantages: makes drinks cold, hard to suck
I have to say Im a big fan of these cups, although not many other people I know get on with them.
With my first we tried to get him on a beaker from 6mths as recommended, but wasnt interested, we tried loads of different beakers and in the end a couple of months later he finally took to this one and never looked back. At first we did have to hold it, as they can be quite heavy when filled and the handles are quite thick, but he was soon off and drinking on his own.
They come in a variety of colours and 2 different sizes. The smallers ones have a soft spout to introduce them to beakers the biggers have a harder spout for older babies. They come in a range of colours.
There is several parts to the beaker all need to be intact for it to work. There is the main drinking bit to fill, which then has the handles to go over it, with the lid to screw in place. before putting the lid on you need to add the spout which comes in 3 parts, the actual spout itself, then the value which plugs in the the clear cover which clips over it, really easy. Poke it through the lid hole, screw and your away.
These biggers are spill proof which means you can tip them anyway possible and the juice will not spill, but it does however make sucking slightly harder. The only thing I did notice is the spout seems to make the drinks a lot colder then they actually are not good if you got a fussy baby like I did. My son used these till he was nearly 2.5yrs and the best bit is you can buy replacement spouts without having to replace the whole beaker. They are still in fab condition.
We tried my daughter with this this year when introducing beakers but she hated it and just couldnt use it so is using a free flow beaker which I hate in comparison. Even at 13mths she still refuses to drink from this one, so all babies are different.
Summary: a really good beaker if your baby prefers the non spill beakers which are harder to suck from
