Avent Magic Cup
Advantages: Looks good, easy for baby to use
Disadvantages: Leaks and is difficlut to clean
I bought this cup in blue when my son was around 6 months old, it cost £3.49 from Asda about 18 months ago and it holds up to 200ml of fluid. The cup is designed for babies from 6 months and seeks to help them start the move from a bottle to a cup. The cup is BPA free, comes in a variety of colours and is made up of several interconnected pieces. The main part of the cup is a plastic cup that is slimmer at the bottom than the top, the cup overall is quite stumpy and is also designed for little hands to grasp it easily. There is also a separate handle, screw top flip top lid, and flexible spout.
All the pieces can be put in the dishwasher and there is a handy measuring scale on the side to help you keep track of how much your little one is drinking. The spout if flexible and is designed to help your baby transition from teat/breast to a cup spout. The lid with the flip top helps to protect the spout from getting dirty when not in use.
Overall my son got on well with this cup, he enjoyed holding the cup with his hands and then later I introduced the handles he was good at using them. The flow of the liquid was quite fast, as my son was only using a two whole bottle teat at the time which had a slower flow and it took him a few attempts to get used to tipping the cup slower.
From my point of view the cup has not so good, it leaked when in my bag or left on its side, the separate handles were difficult to line up properly to allow them to be central to the spout and the spout was very difficult to clean, I ended up switching to a different cup after a few months.
Overall I would say this is an average product, it looks nice and my son enjoyed using it, but overall it just did not live up to expectations and there are better cups on the market that do not leak and are easier to clean.
