Easy to use, compact steriliser. (Avent Microwave Steriliser)

Advantages: Good value, simple design.

Disadvantages: None that we found.

We bought the Avent microwave steriliser as it was not only much cheaper than the plug-in versions, it saved us some space on the worktop in the kitchen as we already had a microwave. We weren't planning on using it too much, as I was feeding my sons, however as time went by we found ourselves using it more and more as we used more bottles.

The steriliser is very simple to use- just fill it up, add 200ml of water and pop it in the microwave for a few minutes. The version we have fits four bottles, along with lids, teats, dummies etc, although I noticed that there is now a newer 6-bottle version on the market. I also used it to sterilise pieces of my breast pump.

We actually used the steriliser with Tommy Tippee closer to nature bottles rather than Avent ones, as these were the ones we chose to use for feeds. The bottles didn't clip in as well as the Avent ones it is made for, but it still did the job.

The steriliser is very easy to take apart to clean and there is really
nothing that can go wrong with it as it is a very simple design. The only
problem we had was when our microwave gave up on us after we had been using the steriliser 3-4 times a day for a few months (with twin boys we used a lot of bottles), but that can't be blamed on the steriliser!

If buying a steriliser again, I would definately choose the Avent microwave steriliser again as it does the job perfectly.
