My baby boy is still drinking formula milk as he is under one and I have finished breast feeding him, he got teeth and liked to bite my nipples. Whenever we go out for the day I always take milk with me otherwise he would just get too thirsty and miss his milk. Its always a hassle though to make sure the milk is the right temperature or to get some hot water in a restaurant so that why this thermal bag from Avent is such a good idea.
I saw it on offer in Boots and decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did as its generally our constant companion when we go out and has been a really good buy. The Philips Avent Thermabag is described as having a double insulation layer incorporating 3M ThinsulateTM which will keep milk cold or water hot for up to four hours. I have read somewhere about 20% of the food or drink parents take out for their little ones is not kept at the right temperature and could cause sickness so this is something that we need to keep a watch on as parents. Milk is something that definitely needs to be kept cold, I think formula milk may be a bit different to cows milk but formula milk will still go off when in extreme temperature conditions.
This bag is shaped like a messenger type of bag and has a long strap that you can strap across your body if you wish or like me you can adjust it so it is quite short and then hang it from your pushchair. There is a little zipped section in the front and then there is the main section of the bag at the back that zips to open and close. There are various colours that this bag comes in but they only sold the red in Boots which was the one I bought. The word Avent is written on the front so you know that its an Avent bag. Its not the biggest bag but I quite like it that it is small as it holds enough bottles for our needs and works well for its purpose.
Avent say that this bag will hold two Avent bottles, two Magic Cups or four VIA Cups. I'm actually not sure what magic cups or Via Cups are but we have event bottles and it holds them well. THe inside of the bag is padded, much like a cool bag is and this is what insulates it from the outside temperatures. I tend to take milk in bottles that i have made from home in here and I find that they do stay cool and I am confident that they have not gone off in the time we have been out with the bottle. I also take little Peitt Filou yogurts out in this bag which definitely do need to keep cool and they are always perfect when we are ready for lunch when we are out.
In conclusion this bag works well. It costs £10 from Boots and is a great idea if you take out milk for your baby.
