Advantages: reusable and not too expensive
Disadvantages: Sometimes hard to put the lid on and off
I bought a box of these containers when I started expressing milk for my son. I looked at the bags but thought these would suit me better. I think they cost me about £3.99 from Mothercare.
They come in a box of ten and are pre- sterilized. The pots are clear plastic and have a light blue screw on lid. They can hold up to 6ozs of milk and on the side of the container is the little lines which show you how much is in there. They can be re-used although on the side of the box it recommends to throw them away if they are showing signs of wear and tear but I've never had to throw mine away and I've used them a lot.
Included in the box is an adapter for the Avent manual breast pump. I found this brilleint because I could put the pot directly onto the pump and express right into it. You can also attach a normal bottle top to the adapter and feed your baby straight from the container without having to swap things around. I found this very useful because on a few occasions I have poured some milk into an actual bottle and spilt aload of it everywhere.
I also used them as weaning pots when my son got older. When he was eating a good sized portion they were a great size. Beware though because things like carrot and peppers stain the plastic. I also carry chopped up cucumber and tomato and things like that in them so they are very useful.
The pots are stackable which I found ideal because I could pile them up in the bottom drawer of my freezer and it would make good use of the space. They are also easy to label as the lids are quite big so you can get a good amount of sticky label on it. I did have some littler pots which I had to use a code on and did get muddled a few times.
On a few occasions I have had a problem lining up the lids and they have leaked. I think because the plastic is very flexible I sometimes squeeze too hard with my hand and it doesn't connect properly. It's the same with opening them. I'm squeezing the plastic whilst trying to turn the lid and in this process I'm bending the plastic out of shape which makes it resist turning.
Over all these cups are very versatile and handy to have around and they are even better if you have the Avent breast pump and bottles.
Summary: A great pot for all stages of 'baby'.
