Baby Polar Gear On The Go Booster Seat
Advantages: easily portable, good price
We were lucky enough to receive this booster seat from my husband's parents for our son when he began feeding himself. This was predominantly so we were able to feed him when we visited them without the need for a highchair but the benefit is that we now have a portable seat for him if we are likely to be anywhere without a highchair.
The chair retails at around £18.99 online (Amazon) which is a good price and a lot cheaper than some other alternatives available. The seat comes folded up into a case-like form. This is how it can be re-folded after use and transported too - convenient, light and compact (it easily fits in the shopping basket under our pushchair). It is suitable for children from 12 months to 2 ½ years. The product information does say that it can be used when a child is able to sit unaided but our son was still quite small when he did this and I don't think that this chair would have offered sufficient support.
The chair straps on to any ordinary chair to effectively convert it to a highchair. There are two straps that pass under the seat on the chair and fasten with a snap fastener. There is also a strap that passes around the back of the chair to hold the seat up here too. The base of the seat is cushioned so it is comfortable for your child to sit in. They are held in place by a T bar strap that comes in between their legs and snap fastens at the side. This is adjustable to suit your childs size so can be adjusted as they grow older. We used this with my son from about 10 months and it offered him good support. The straps holding the seat in place also hold very well so, even when strapped onto a smooth wooden chair where you may expect some slipping to occur, holds very well and still.
The pattern on our chair is slightly different to the one pictured here. It is white with red and black circle outlines - so equally suitable for both sexes. It is made with a wipeable material and has so far wiped clean pretty well - all spillages removed promptly and easily to avoid any staining. The chair is also really easy to fit and we have managed to fit it easily to any chair we have tried. The straps can be difficult to adjust, but I am sure that these will give in time. However, this is part of the reason the chair is held in place so well so I don't mind this too much.
Overall, this is a really easy and affordable solution to highchair issues - great for taking on holiday if there is no highchair provided! It is light and compact and therefore easily portable. It functions well and does the job it is intended for perfectly. It is also great to allow your child to sit at the table with you for meals or for crafts etc as the chair can still be tucked right under the table. Recommended.
Summary: Great feeding solution
