Advantages: No kicking off covers.
Disadvantages: You dont get them for my age group - 22 years.
Although Jasmine was my second child I'm not used to the thinks 'normal' babies do. My first girl has cerebral palsey so she does not move about and never kicked off her covers.
When Jasmine was born it was a whole new experience for us as she began to do things Lucy did not; play with toys, grab things, roll about. With all this came a new problem, one that we'd never had a problem with before. She would pull her covers about, kick them off and pull them over her head. No amount of tucking her in could contain this problem.
I bought a baby sleeping bag as a result and it has been great.
First tou need to shop about, the price difference in these can be huge. Mine was £24.99 from Mothercare but i have noticed that Asda, Tesco and Matalan were doing them for as little as £9.99.
Choose your size carfully as babies grow out of them very quickly. I picked one that was a few sizes bigger because the way it was made meant it would fit a smaller baby without falling off.
The 'baggy' as we call it has two sraps that go over the shoulders, (the same idea as a vest) they have a popper on each end so you can secure them to the front. This stops the baggy from slipping down or falling off. The bottom have is just a bag basically, mine has a zip all the way round so you can open it right out but i have seen them without zips.
They can be bought at differant thickness's but i would recomend buying a thiner one as it is easier to just put a blanket over the baby instead of changing her bag or buying a new one for winter or summer.
One the bag is on baby cant kick it off meaning you are less likely to have to get up during the night to wrap the little one back up.
In Jasmine's case she also cant pull any covers over her head either which was a worry for me. It also makes it a bit more difficuly for her to roll over when she's in her cot as her legs arnt free to push her over.
It looks so cosy when Jasmine is in it and i now her little feet will never be cold.
I really recomend these sleeping bags to anyone, I've seen them up to the age of 24 months so even toddlers can benifit. The bigger the size the more expensive. I looked at one for Lucy, it was for 24 months and was £34.99. I feel that that is quite a lot so i didnt buy it.
The baggies wash same as baby clothes, there is no special requirments and mine can be tumble dried when is great when you need it washed and dried before bed.
Prices from £9.99 (shop around)
Loads of colours and brands such as Winnie the pooh and Humphries Corner.
Summary: Warm and cosy.
