Advantages: Keeps Baby warm without the need for blankets
Disadvantages: expensive
remember when I was pregnant with my daughter reading about these bags that had been brought onto the market. They were like a baby sleeping bag which ensured that baby would be kept warm enough to sleep without the need for blankets! I decided it was a gimmick and never bothered. When my nephew was born my sister in law used them and I used to laugh at my nephew in it, but she always said that he slept in it no problem. When my son was about 10 weeks he kept wakening during the night as he liked to be swaddled and he kept kicking the covers off. We decided to go to John Lewis and have a look at these sleeping bags! We found them in the childrens department, next to the baby clothes! They had a range of designs. The smalled size they had was 0-6months and that cost £22! We got one. It was a to the moon one, which was blue with little bears dressed in spacesuits, and planets and rockets. It also comes with a temperature thermometer, which you can use in your babies bedroom! We took it home and that night tried it out! It has 2 poppers at the top which the head fit thru and the poppers are at the shoulders. It has a zip which goes round the outside! It is like a sleeping bag but that it has shoulder straps to keep it on the baby. There seemed to be plenty of room for him to move it in, and plenty of growing room. That night he slept for 9 hours without wakening. It had definately worked. It was great! Because our house gets very cold at night it is easier to put one blanket on him and that keeps him cosy. You can buy these Grobags online at the offical website of www.grobag.com. If you check the website out at the right time, you often find that they are selling the grobags off at half price. The grobag which we bought can't be used on a baby until they are 10lbs. I'm not sure why. There are 5 sizes: Newborn (0-2months/7lb+) Young Baby (up to 6 months 10lb+) Older Baby (6-18 months) Toddler (1
8-36months) Young Child (3-6 years) They vary in price from £17.50 to £29.50. They are 2.5tog. There are also 10 designs, which vary from boy/girl and unisex. You can also buy summer ones, organic ones and travel one for in the car seat or buggy! They wash well in the washing machine. I have never used them in a tumble dryer but I did notice my nephews were very bobbly! I have hung them out to dry and they have dried quickly and are still as soft as it was when I put it in the machine. Though I am concerned that if an 18 month old is in bed like my 18 month old was, that they may harm themselves when they try to get out of the bed at night! Also what if an older child had one and needed the toilet in the night? Sounds like there may be a few accidents to me! If your baby isn't quite sleeping through the night due to possibly coldness, just try one of these bags and see if it works! it worked for me, and has made such a difference.

- 18/12/03 I'm glad to see they do summer weight ones too, the problem of tiny children overheating worries me as much as themnot being warm enough, perhaps more so.
They do sound like agreat thing though and what a wonderful name for them!
cheers

- 08/12/03 Hi Louise, another good opinion.
I'm the Kids and Family category guide so have read your opinions in this section - it's a shame you get so few reads because they are good reviews but if you don't read other peoples work they won't come back and read yours, you should be getting double the reads for each opinion!
