“ Brand: Beuty and the Bib / Type: Bibs „
Beauty and the Bib was not a brand I had heard of prior to receiving two of their bibs as a gift when my son was born. The unusual thing about the bibs we were given is that they are personalised with my son's name.
- The Bibs -
The two bibs we have are larger than most newborn bibs. They are big, round and made from thick cotton material. The very thick material makes them look and feel quite luxurious. They fasten with Velcro at the top so are easy to put on and remove. I do think the neck holes are rather small. This is fine for a newborn but will likely be getting too tight by the time baby is six months. The large size of the bib means they protect most of the baby's outfit from spit up and dribbling. One of our bibs is cream with stitched gold stars while the other is light blue with a white stitched crisscross design. Both have my son's name embroidered across the front of the bib in a complimentary colour. This adds a nice personal touch. The bibs look cute, great quality and practical for protecting clothes.
- The Different Options/Personalisation -
Beauty and the Bib make lots of bibs in cute designs. For example, you can get bibs that are the shape of a star, heart, strawberry, apple, cup cake or ice cream. These certainly look cute and unusual. Most of these can then be embroidered with a name at a fee (same for all names, not priced by number of letters). You can also have a bib embroidered with an 'I love....' message but with these you don't get a choice of what the actual bib looks like.
- In Use -
We used these bibs frequently in those early days when spitting up was common. When you go somewhere nice or you are showing your new baby off to friends you want them to wear a very cute outfit. I was reluctant to cover these outfits with a bib but was also worried about the clothes becoming marked from sick. These bibs were ideal for these occasions because they were just as cute as the outfits! I loved how well the protected my son's clothes. They are absorbent, a good size, are soft and seem comfortable for a small baby. The Velcro is easy enough to do up and undo. I found the neck size to be tighter than other bibs so I probably only used these until my son was six months old. If they weren't already too tight around the neck I would recommend using less cute bibs once you start to wean baby anyway as these would quickly get ruined by food stains. They are best suited to protecting clothes from milk and sick.
- Cleaning -
These bibs are machine washable and always washed well for me, usually on a 40°C wash with similar colours. The shrunk slight after the first wash but this is expected according to the website. The bibs don't have instructions regarding tumble drying. I always let ours dry naturally, although this does take a while as they are thick.
- Price and Availability -
As far as I know these bibs are only available from the Beauty and the Bib website. Prices range from £10-£12.50 per bib including any embroidery. Postage is £3. These prices are quite high for bibs, however, these bibs are unique and of a very high quality. They make an ideal new baby gift.
- Would I Recommend? -
I would definitely recommend these bibs. They are probably not something you would buy yourself but make a lovely gift if you know someone who is expecting. They are very high quality, have cute unusual designs, protect clothes well, can be personalised, are a good size and wash well. My only complaint is the size of the neck hole which could be a little larger so they can be used for a bit longer.
