Advantages: Comes in nice pretty colours
Disadvantages: Other cups do the same job, bit pricey
I Bought this cup from Kiddicare as I needed to spend over £30 to get free delivery and I'd spent £29.99 and couldn't decide what else to get, I had kept reading that a baby should soon move on from bottles & beakers on to open lid cups and have seen lots of advert etc for the doidy cup.
What is it?
The doidy is a open topped beaker with a handle at each side for baby to hold and it is slanted. The reason it is slanted is that the baby/toddler is meant to have the slanted end towards them and it helps them to see the drink coming towards them and therefore be more prepared for it and they don't have to tip the cup up so much, which usually results in them being covered in their drink.
Colours
The doidy cup comes in a variety of colours but I chose the minty green colour so that I could use it for future children as I thought it could be a boy/girl colour.
My Experience
We also have the tommee tippee first cup which is a free flow beaker and to be honest I just wish i'd took the lid off that and given it to my baby as it would have been just as useful and saved me £4, the tomme tippee cup only cost me £1.
Anyway maybe it just will take my little girl a bit of getting used to but even though she knows what to do to drink out of it she still tips it too far and ends up soaked, which the doidy cup is mean to prevent as its tilted so they can see the fluid coming.
The handles also seem a little on the small side for a toddlers hands to hold as they grip it with their full fist but my daughter does seem to manage ok anyway.
Overall
I do think I wasted my money here unfortunately as it hasn't helped my daughter drink out of an open topped cup any more than her non slanted cup would have. I will however keep using it with her so maybe she will get the hang on it soon.
The good things are that it does come in a variety of colours and she does look very grown up using it!
Im just glad i only give her water in it otherwise she'd be all sticky!
Summary: not worth the money, just get one for £1

- 04/11/09 Sorry for the SU but you should expand more on the cup itself as I don't know a lot about the product based on the review.
Possibly less of the prices and where you bought it etc and more product based knowledge and genuine consumer advice. If you make it better tell me and I 'll read again:) |
