My little boy loves this cutlery set, and I would happily recommend it to other parents. It is well made and good quality and much easier for him to use than a plastic set. The metal prongs seem to grip the food much more effectively, and the spoon is the right shape and angle for scooping foods such as cereal and yoghurt. It is also the perfect size, as some spoons are too wide and others frustratingly small.

The design is lovely, and makes the cutlery set fun for little ones to use. It washes well too - often the adhesive on cutlery like this will start to disintegrate after a few washes and the spoon or fork will break apart, but this one has been washed daily for several months and is still going strong.

My only downside is that there is no matching knife. These sets usually include a blunt knife, which, while not exactly required, is great for introducing the concept of cutting to your child.

At around £3, the cutlery set is a bargain.

      Boots Baby Safari Cutlery Set

Once my little girl started eating for herself she wanted to do it, no matter how hard I tried she wanted to use the spoon and fork herself and no food that had come from my fair hand would grace her lips, it had to be from her nimble hands. The cutlery we had was obviously adult size so a few months ago we decided to get her some cutlery of her own.

The great thing about baby cutlery is that it is baby size so it is perfect for their little fingers and when they manage to scoop something up with a spoon or fork they can then turn round with their little hands and reach it into their mouth without the cutlery item being too long for them.

I got her cutlery set from Boots, mainly so I could get the added Advantage card points but also because I know they have quite a nice range as well. I chose the safari design style as she has a number of safari branded things so I wanted to be in keeping with her decor (she now has a jungle safari highchair) and also because this was the cutest set they had. The design is also in a bowl and plate product too so it was nice to be able to purchase a whole matching set for her dinner time. In the cutlery set there were two items, a fork and a spoon.

The cutlery is silver at the top of the utensil and then the bottom half, the handle is plastic with the jungle design on it. The plastic is a sort of sea green/blue colour, very nice and then it has a cute picture of a monkey, lion and snake on it. It's nice to be eating dinner and point out the different animals and talk about them and make the noises etc, it enables you to make dinner time a bit more fun and exciting.

The fork is fairly sharp which I think is a good thing. It enables my little girl to sort of stab at her dinner and get some on the fork and enable her to feed herself without us interfering. It's not too sharp that it will do any harm to the inside of their mouths or anything. The handles are easy to grab and all in all a product my daughter has fun using. The set is dishwasher proof but as I don't have a dishwasher I just wash by hand.

The set is available at Boots and costs £2.85

        An attractive cutlery set

Our little Boots Baby Safari spoon and fork set was given to us a part of a gift, with which we also got the matching Boots Safari plate and bowl. We were very happy to receive this set and would recommend it to anyone making up a similar gift hamper with a variety of feeding related items in it, as its so cute looking. We suggested the product here and 2nd time around its been accepted so here are my thoughts.

The set comprises of a spoon and fork which are made from hard surfaced materials. In other words both the feeding spoon and fork within the set are made with a stainless metal surface to both the spoon bowl and the fork prongs. Due to the stainless steel material used I feel its something best left for your child to use when not teething, as its not soft to the touch and may hurt already inflamed gums.

        ************************************************* *********
The price of this set is £2.79. Although we received it as a gift so didn't part with any money for it, I do feel thats about right as its very nice. Its a rather attractive looking cutlery set which does look and feel of a good quality. Our set came in a nice mid toned blue, green colour way that could suit either a boy or a girl. The set also comes in a pink toned version too to suit more girly girls.

The handles on both the fork and spoon are nicely covered with a plasticy patterned grip cover, which is easy for a child to hold on to. There are several little bits of artwork along the handles which makes them look rather cute. These include is a cute little banana munching monkey, a little bear and a small snake creature. These designs match up to the other items in the set that we also had as gifts and make a nice ensemble.

        ************************************************* ********
My feelings about the set is that its both nice to look at and also easy for a young child to handle. Our child was able to hold the fork and spoon easily and loved the banging noise that could be made with the spoon on the table especially. Not so sure thats a built in design feature of the spoon, buts its one that many small children do seem to have pre programmed.

One thing we liked about the little fork was the fact that the prongs on the fork are not too pointy or sharp. We found this was of help, as when a child begins to feed themselves they can often get their aim wrong. As the prongs on the fork are not too sharp as to dig into a childs gums we didn't have too many issue with this, but wouldn't want to leave a teething child with one of these just in case. The spoon also has a smooth texture and is just deep enough for a child to be able to scoop out a nice amount of mashed potato etc and is made of the same materials.
        ************************************************* *********
We have found the set to be easy to wash and clean. All they need is a quick rinse with soapy water, folowed by placing into the dishwasher. One thing to note is that because of the metal parts used in the product we thought it shouldn't go into a steriliser with other plastic items. You may not be of the same opinion however.

I never mix plastic and metal items in a steriliser and I would never put any metal object into the microwave to do so. Although the information does say that the set can be placed into water based sterilising units, I would want to place them in a different container just to avoid any problems.

        **********************************************************
We have found the spoon and fork to be a nice little set that matches the other items we have rather well. However it would not have been a set we might have chosen ourselves This is mostly due to the solid stainless steel parts which we worried might hurt our child. We felt they could be something that might get in the way.

To rate the product as a whole set I feel it ought to get 4 stars, as it makes a very attractive set when used with the matching bowl and plate and also washes well, whilst being very durable.
