Advantages: Great for Toddlers, plastic plate, fork is better at picking things up

Disadvantages: need to supervise your child

Up until my daughter was one year old, we used the plastic spoons and forks made by Heinz which were great.

As a birthday present she was bought a Winnie the Pooh plate set. This consists of Winnie the Pooh plastic plate, bowl, and a fork and a spoon.

The spoon and fork are metal, but she has been fine using them. I am currently trying to teach her to feed herself, you can imagine the mess!! The fork is much better at picking things up than the plastic ones. She also likes to have her food put on a plate rather than a bowl, as she sees mummy and daddy eating from a plate!! The added advantage is that if she throws the plate on the floor, it will bounce and not smash - great invention lol!

I think now that she is a little bit older, she should get used to eating with "proper" cutlery. I obviously supervise her with the fork, as knowing Alex she would stab me with it!

I think the set is lovely and I know that there are various ones at Boots, such as Teletubbies, Tweenies, and Bob the Builder. So they are ideal for toddlers, and I would highly recommend them.

I never trust the plastic cutlery, when washed in a dishwasher over time they can become quite brittle. More chance then of bits breaking off them.
