Advantages: Just the right size

OK, so it is the great dummy debate. I expect some of you will not let your child have a dummy, but I do. My feeling is that it is easier to "lose" a dummy than a thumb. Anyway that is another discussion entirely.

The Boots Newborn Soothers are designed especially for tiny mouths. The teat is smaller and flatter than on an ordinary dummy. They come in a twin pack and are basically white, but one has a mint trim and the other a yellow. They have a tiny moon and stars cut out pattern around the edge - a word of warning though if your little one has a powerful suck they can end up with a rather attractive celestial pattern around their mouths!

They are more of an oval design and shaped so as not to squash those tiny noses. They are just the perfect size for your newborns little face - because an ordinary sized dummy tends to look like a man-hole cover stuck on their tiny face.

As with all dummies they need to be sterilised regularly and replaced every 4 weeks or so. Unless of course they get damaged and then they must be thrown away immediately.

So if you decide to use a dummy for you newborn, invest in the Boots Newborn Soothers - they are just the job and I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

my little ones refused to use a dummy. They never sucked their fingers or thumbs either so i guess I was lucky! With this one, she prefers to suck on her sleeve or blankie for a few seconds before falling asleep. However, if you need a dummy, then this sounds like a good product to try.

Well Behtnay's 2 1/2 now and it really is time for that dummy to go, we managed a week without it, but were back to sleepless nights so I relented and bought her another one, but the horrible mother that I am spent about 35p on a cheap nasty one and explained to her that as she is no longer a baby she doesn't need babies things! needless to say when we are out she manages to use her thumb!!!

Finley uses a dummy on odd occasions, like when he starts whinging and won't stop, if I put the dummy in his mouth - he takes it out & starts looking at it intently & quietly - so it does the job!
