Dummies , thay are a great comfort to a crying baby at night , ut babies can get to dependent on them , and end up sucking them all day . I think nothing looks worse or is more dangerous than a 3 year old running round with a dummy in !!!

Our tot just has a dummy at night to help her get off to sleep , or if she wakes in the middle of the night .

Dummies on the whole do seem to comfort
most babies.

Dummies are made from non-toxic strong plastic and pure natural latex . They are generally suitable for all methods of sterilisation , boiling , steam or cold water .Before sterilization the dummies must be washed in soapy warm water to remove greasy residues.Any trapped water must be removes after sterilization .

Dummies must be inspected before and after each use and they must be discarded when worn , damaged or punctured or after 4 weeks of usage as natural rubber becomes softy and sticky after this time .

Dummies generally have 2 ventilation holes for extra safety .There are many different designs and types of soothers
Newborn , 0-3 , 3-6 , 6months + are the general age catorgeries associated with dummies .


The teats on dummies can come in different shapes and sizes to suit individual babies.
Soothers caome in a variety of colours , with some having a glow in the dark handle , great for seeing where they are in the cot at night ! Others have a rattle inside so you can hear where they are in the night by tapping on the bed lightly . Some have stiff handles others have clicky handles .

Soothers are perferable to thumb sucking as they can be sterilised and taken away when the baby is too big for one .

Dummies generally come in two packs and can cost from 2 pounds to 3.50 depending on the makes and design . We tend to buy avent dummies as they come in a plastic dummy pot with individual lids for the dummies ensuring they stay clean when not in use .
