A few years back now well 2 and a half anyway we looked high and low for one of these bumbo chairs. This was when they took the UK b storm I do believe. We got one thought in babies r us. Though the only colour left was Aqua. Which was a nice colour actually.

From what I can make out. The Bumbo chair came from South Africa and is one of the most clever inventions yet. Then went onto take America by storm and then the UK by storm a couple of year backs. Today they are still taking the world by storm,.
Bumbo is designed so that the baby's own body weight helps to slightly narrow the gap above its legs, which gently keeps your baby in place.
especially useful at feeding time, and to allow a younger sibling to watch an older child at play.

Now you baby can enjoy a comfy upright position from 4 months or when your baby can support their own head clearly of the ground. Usually around 4 months old.
The Marital is soft your baby's own body weight and pressure narrows the gap above your baby's legs slightly so your baby sits comfortably

He'll really enjoy the independence to look around and use his hands, plus it can be useful for bonding with an older sibling

The Look.

Well to be honest when mine 1st arrived the box was so cool I never wanted to take it out. The box is bright and multi coloured and massive. The shape of the box comes in a hexane shape. Though If I can remember right there was a carry handle on the box. Though this was going back a few years so I may be wrong. There is also pictures of the bumbo chair on 3 sides,
On opening the box their staring back at me was this over grown foam potty, Well That is what it looked like anyway. The 1st thing that struck me was how light this was. If you have only seen pictures like I had they look heavy and huge. Though I really did think that this would not last long because of how thin the bottom and the sides where. Well if you know my son that would be going through your minds too. Though not even my son has broke it or torn it. It's tuck a few trips down the stairs the other month and with it being foam it just bounces. Yes I still have mine. Cant bring my self to throw anything of the kids baby stuff away.

The seat is lower then the lest rest that is in the middle of the bumbo chair. The back rest does look as if it would be to low to support a baby's back but it's not. I think my daughters neck came to the back of the chair.

Well anyway she wants the Bumbo chair to be took of the market because her son fell out of his and landed on his face. Hurting him badly. Though reading on she had hers on a bed and left her son unattended. Well what type of mother would do that.

It does not matter where you buy a Bumbo chair from because everyone clearly stats that the Bumbo chairs are to be used on a flat surface.
Safety First

Do not use on a raised or uneven surface, as a car seat, in a bath or in other water.
Bumbo is happiest on the floor.
Do not use until your baby is fully able to support it's head.
Bumbo is designed so that the baby's own body weight helps hold your baby gently in place.
Depending on the physical development and age of the child, some babies will be able to move out of the Bumbo, so never leave your child unattended.

Suitable for babies between 4 - 12 months, weighing 4 - 10 kilos Which Is about 221bs Though most kids would out grow this by 8 or 9 months or if crawling before that age.

Cleaning.

This is quite easy to clean. Normal daily marks do come off with ease with soapy water. If you do use this as a feeding chair then food does wipe off with some scrubbing. Though we had the aqua colour the orange type of food used to leave a light stain.

Whist I was searching for the different colours of the Bumbo chair. I came across the new Play Tray that fits onto the Bumbo chair. These are also made of safe plastic and this is also no toxic like the bumbo chairs.

Not to sure weather this are available in the UK yet but I found them to be quite cheap from America at only $9.95 that is about around £6 or £7. Wish they had these about a few years back. They look so cool !!!

My Thoughts.

I wished the Bumbo chair had been about when my son was a baby as well. They do look weird at 1st glance. They look like they are some kind of over grown foam potty They also look very uncomfortable to sit in. Not like I could try it out really to find out. Though they must be comfortable because my daughter used to sit in hers for a long time and she used to be happy and never cried.
The only main problem that I could find with the Bumbo chair is that babies out grow them quick. You may get 3 months max use out of a chair. Though they are still a good deal.

The Bumbo chairs are a great idea if you have older children as your younger one can watch the older one play. I loved it when my daughter was in hers as I had both hands free to play with my son and daughter. Making play time less stressful for my son. Making him happier.
They are easy to clean and they dry in no time at tall. So you can use them almost straight away after cleaning.

Recommend that you read the safety guide lines that come with Bumbo chair before 1st use.

So To sum up.................


Can be expensive on where you buy one from. So worth while in shopping around for one. They are good and babies seem to love them. Worthwhile if you have got other kids as well.
