Advantages: a good idea

Disadvantages: expensive, not designed for bigger babies, easily tips over, boring

When I had my first child in 2005 these were new out an all the rage, being my first i wanted the best of everything so decided to buy one of these and paid £32.99 which I think was about the RRP then.

The chair itself is designed to be used to help the child sit by themselves in a comfortable position whilst being able to interact with whats going on around. The overall concept is great especially for babies that are nosy in the world around but are yet to figure out how to sit up alone. However, I think a lot of people buy this as seeing it as an aid for babies to sit up sooner on there own.

My opinion is that they are the biggest waste of money and potentially dangerous. They are definately not suitable for bigger babies. I bought it for my son around 3mths, he was a chunky monkey and as soon as i put him in it he cried and looked very uncomfatable. I thought it was just intial reactions, but several days along and several attempts later he still hated it and having chubby legs they often got stuck in the holes. Also if he leaned back the seat looked unsteady and have heard many say their babies have tipped them over.

Needless to say I gave up and sold it about a month later, never even wanted to keep it for future babies. My son was sitting confidently by him self from 5mths. My daughter was similar size so imagine she would of been the same and agin sitting shortly after 5mths. I do know people who think these are brilliant and used them loads, but there children were 7-8mths before sitting alone, in my eyes makes me think it actuallys delays their development as become to reliant on the seat.

Also if you have the seat without the tray I think it becomes quite boring as there is not a lot they can actually do or play with. I really cant see why these are still so popular and people pay so much especially as only last a couple of mths.

Summary: don't bother I wish i dint but luckily sold mine on ebay and only lost a couple of pound

Our girls hated these so I didn't bother, just used their bouncy seats until they could sit in their highchairs. Caroline xx
