Advantages: enabling your child to sit unaided

Disadvantages: my baby could flex about and nearly get out of it

I first discovered the Bumbo baby seat when my baby boy was about 4 months old. My friend gave me one and my first impressions of it were ....... ok , what is that thing !! It looks like a giant foam potty. I was very greatful for her kindness in giving it to me, and as I then discovered that they retail at about £29.99 in Mothercare, I was even more greatful. I was a little worried about using it at first, but that soon disappeared when I relised how brilliant it was to use. It is basically a foam ( potty looking ) seat for your baby to sit in when they have trouble in sitting themselves up on their own. My boy was slow to learn to sit on his own, so I found it even more useful. He loved sitting in it watching the telly, which I found most entertaining. The only down side to it was that as my boy is big for his age, he soon learnt how to flex about and nearly get out of it. He never quite managed it, but there were times that he came pretty close, and would push his feet on the floor and try to tip it backwards. So for this reason I soon passed it on to someone else. But overall for the first few months I think it was great.

Summary: Overall this invention is great for the first few months, after that it depends.
