My friend bought me a pink Bumbo when my daughter was born... I'd never seen anything like it before.... looks a bit like a big potty, but made from a soft, plastic coated, foam. But, what a great idea - it was the most useful gift ever!

The seat is suitable for use from around 4 months old, or when they are able to support their own neck. It has a nice high back and is moulded so that they sit safely in an upright position.

My daughter sat in it when she was around 3 1/2 months, and it was so
useful to be able to take her round the house with me while I did my housework, had a shower, cooked the tea etc... she would just sit happily and comfortably on the floor in her Bumbo, and I knew she was safe.

We found it really useful too when she was weaning & starting to be spoon fed. She was too small for her high chair but the Bumbo was ideal to feed her in. It is so easy to wipe clean too. It was especially useful when we visited friends and families houses.... it's light, doesn't take up much room and we just put it in the boot whenever we went out - it went everywhere with us.

It really depends on the child as to how long they will use it - we didn't use ours much after our daughter turned about 8 months as she worked out how to get out of it.

I was surprised though when I found out how much it cost, at around £30, it seems quite expensive for something that isn't used for that long. However, ours had a lot of use, and really did make life easier... I wish I'd known about them when my son was a baby.

They are a bit expensive, but they are such a great idea and a really useful product - I would strongly recommed, but buy one early so that you get maximum use out of it. They come in a variety of colours and you can also buy a tray to attach to them (we didn't have one).
