Advantages: Portable, long lasting, wipe clean
Disadvantages: Bright colours
Despite being asked countless times if it's a potty (like a 6 month old would be potty trained) those in the know love the bumbo.
My bumbo is bright blue and has been in use daily since my daughter was 4 months old. A safe haven to leave a wriggly baby for a few minutes if a parent's attention is diverted elsewhere.
When we first got the bumbo we put it on our dining table when we were eating so the baby could be sociable with us - I should stress that this isn't recommended, but as we were with her the whole time and she couldn't escape it was a lovely way to introduce her to eating as a sociable occasion. Now she's 8 months she's got a proper highchair, but we still use it on the floor to contain her for a few minutes, or just to sit in and read her cloth books and play with toys.
I'm sure this will last her at least until she is 1, as although she is wriggly she is nowhere near working out how to escape- but I know of similar aged children who have done this so use with caution once they're at the exploring stage!
There is a thriving 2nd hand market for bumbos and they are so sturdy could be easily used for 2nd, 3rd or 4th children.
I've not got the tray, but do take it with me to use to feed her (by spoon) when we are visiting friends - so far it is easier and safer than a portable highchair. At home it also fits in front of a 'danger corner' (full of wires etc) and as yet she hasn't figured out how to move it so another useful if unintentional function.
Only thing I don't like is the colour selection, some toned down colours would be appreciated by me, but not perhaps by babies!
Summary: Pricey but useful, and will last for a long time
