Advantages: Allows your baby to play while sitting in the Bumbo seat

Disadvantages: None for us

As you may see from a previous review when Jayden was born some of my closest friends clubbed together and bought us several gifts for both me and my husband and Jayden, one of the things they purchased Jayden was a Bumbo Seat (previously reviewed) to go with this they also bought him the Bumbo Play Tray. I was extremely pleased to receive the Play Tray to go with the Bumbo seat as this allows Jayden to do more than just sit in the Bumbo seat.

Packaging
The Bumbo Play Tray comes in a rectangle box, the left hand side of the box is pink and white and has the Bumbo logo and elephant on it and the words Play Tray, these are written in pink writing within the white section, just above this is a picture of a Bumbo Seat with the Play Tray attached so you know exactly what the whole thing looks like when put together. The majority of the front of the box is taken up with a picture of a little girl sitting in a pink Bumbo Seat with the Play Tray attached, she has building blocks on it to play with. On the top of the box is the same Bumbo logo and the name Play Tray with the words "for the genuine Bumbo Baby Seat only", this is repeated on the two sides of the box as well. The back of the box is very similar to the front, the only difference is that there is a warning section on the back of the box, the majority of this side of the box is also taken up with a picture of a little girl sitting in a green Bumbo Seat with the Play Tray attached. The Bumbo Play Tray inside the box is not assembled and comes inside a clear polyphone bag for extra protection.

The Play Tray
The Bumbo Play Tray is basically a plastic tray which fits onto the front of your baby's Bumbo Seat, it cosmists of two parts, a stem which has a lip on the bottom that sits just under the edge of the seat, the stem is slightly wider towards the bottom and has the name Bumbo on it along with the Bumbo elephant. The second part of the Play Tray is the tray itself, this is basically a curved tray which has a groove in the underside that the stem slots into, the tray edges are rounded but slightly raised so that things do not roll off of it. All of the edges on the whole of the Play Tray are smooth so that they cannot cause any injury to your baby. The idea of the Bumbo Play Tray is so that when your baby is sitting in the Bumbo Seat they can keep toys and snacks within arms reach, you child can sit and play safely and securely.

Assembly
Assembling the Play Tray and fixing it to the Bumbo Seat is very easy, the instructions come on a small leaflet inside the box and include
* Seat your baby before positioning the tray
* Insert the stem into the slot on the base of the tray
* Position the cup of the tray (curved piece on the underside) over the pommel of the seat
* To remove the tray you simply pull the whole thing away from the seat using the stem of the tray.
Fitting the tray to the Bumbo Seat literally takes a few seconds and is simple even without the instructions, the two pieces simply slot together and then the whole thing fits onto the front of the Bumbo Seat, this closes the front of the seat in but will not restrict your babies movement or alter their seating position.

Warnings
The warnings come on the same leaflet as the assembly instructions included inside the box with the Bumbo Play Tray, these consist of
* Seat your baby before attaching the Play Tray
* Keep your babies limbs clear of the attachment area
* Detach the Play Tray from the Bumbo Seat before removing your baby from the seat
* Do not allow your baby to sit or stand on the Play Tray
* Dispose of damaged items
* Clean with mild soap and water after every use, due not use scouring agents
These are quite self explanatary and really just common sense, but adhering to these warnings will keep the Bumbo Play Tray in excellent condition and also prevent injury to your baby.

Price and Availability
As I have mentioned we did not purchase the Bumbo it was part of a gift, however as I have been so impressed with the Bumbo products I have done a bit of research into what other items are available and also where they are available. I noticed that the Bumbo Play Tray is available in a variety of department stores and children's shops such as Mothercare, I also noticed that it was available in Boots and being sold for £9.99, the price does vary a little depending on where you purchase it from. I would definitely say that this is well worth the money, it is also not over priced so should it need replacing it is not going to be too expensive.

My Opinion
I would definitely recommend the Bumbo Play Tray, this allows your baby to do more than just sit in their Bumbo Seat, you can allow them to have toys on the tray to play with, even though Jayden is still young he enjoys sitting in his Bumbo with a toy or two on the tray to move around and look at. The tray is also useful as your child grows as they can even sit in it to eat small amounts of food, the seat keeps them in a position which is good for their posture so they can happily sit and play/ eat. The tray keeps toys and food within arms reach for your baby and at just the right height. The Play Tray is made from a tough plastic so I know that it is going to be strong even if it gets a bit of rough treatment as Jayden bangs toys up and down on it, the fact that the whole thing is plastic also means that it is extremely easy to keep clean, I can simply wipe it down with soap and water and dry with a cloth ready for its next use. The Bumbo Play Tray is very reasonably priced and definitely worth the money. This is certainly an item that I would recommend and an accessory to the Bumbo Seat that you have to have, I would definitely have gone out and purchased this myself to go with Jayden's Bumbo if I had not received it as a gift. An item that is well worth the money and extremely useful for both you and your baby.

Summary: A nice play tray for the Bumbo seat
