Bumbo Play Tray
Advantages: fits easily and nicely.
Disadvantages: No colour variations
When Lauren was born, a friend recommended a Bumbo seat and tray as she said that they were great at encouraging your little ones to sit up and ideal for weaning so I decided to buy one.
The snack tray costs around £10 and is available from baby specialists like Babies R Us, Mothercare etc. It is only available in white which I think is a little disappointing considering the nice range of colours the actual Bumbo seat comes in. I also find that despite not using it much, it didn't stay white for long and showed stains/marks up really easily however because the tray is made of hard plastic so it was easy to wipe clean. The plastic is quite hard too, there were occasions when my daughter would hit the tray with her maracas or rattle with some force and it never chipped or looked like it would get damaged. The tray has a slight lip around the edges meaning items placed on could not be pushed off easily.
The tray clips onto the Bumbo really easily and you can do it one handed which I found handy is I was carrying my daughter around. It can also be removed easily (although not too easy so my daughter could remove or I had concerns about it coming loose). When fitted is also didn't restrict Laurens legs movements which was good.
The problem I had was that my daughter didn't (and still doesn't) like to sit in one place for longer than 5 minutes, so the Bumbo seat itself was not a good idea for me. I did find that when I used with the snack tray, she would sit for a little longer, but as soon as she had lost interest in whatever item was on the tray (whether it be a snack or a toy), she wanted to get out.
Would I buy again, no, but that is mainly due to the fact that I didn't really get on with the Bumbo itself and found it didn't suit my needs, however I do think that the tray is a really good idea and should you find a Bumbo useful, I would recommend having the tray too and I would give the tray, 4 out of 5 stars.
Thanks for reading.
