Advantages: Comfortable seat with adjustable back, large tray

Disadvantages: Very difficult to clean properly

We purchased the Chicco Happy Snack highchair when our son was five months old. We'd looked at a lot of different high chairs, but as we weaned him before he was sitting unaided, we needed a chair that was suitable from 4-6 months, rather than something where he'd need to be able to sit for a longer period without support.

The Chair
The chair is well designed and attractive looking. The plastic seat covering is wipe-clean and looks good. The basket underneath is useful for catching bits of food, or for storing meal-time equipment. The tray is fairly large, and is removable so that you can push the chair up to the table so your little one can join in family mealtimes - however, the bit between the babies legs is a bit high for it to actually fit under our table so we haven't really been able to use it in that way, although it was an important consideration when we bought the chair.

Advantages
The chair was great for the first year that we had it. Our son always seemed to enjoy sitting in it - although it became an inevitable battle when he hit toddlerdom. He would still fit comfortably in it now at nearly 2.5 but refuses to sit there. The large tray is very good (some high chair trays are far too small) and it is benefical to be able to remove the tray for easy cleaning.

Issues
The main reservations I would have is that it takes up a lot of space when open - you can fold it to store it, but if you're using it three times a day the reality is that you probably won't bother. The base is deceptively wide in comparison with the seat - this makes it very stable, but also easier to trip over it. The major issue is that is is very difficult to clean the plastic seat cover thoroughly as food gets trapped into the creases and the straps also get very dirty. You can remove the cover to clean it, but this is very difficult to do and it still does not get completely clean along the seams.

Overall I would recommend this highchair, especially for younger babies who need the support that it provides, but be warned about the cleaning issues.

Summary: A good highchair for younger babies and toddlers
