The Soother Saver is a great idea.
I bought myself a couple of these 4 years ago, shortly after my 1st child was born, as I got fed up with her chucking her dummy out of the pushchair when we were out and about, or dropping in in the car when I was driving - so couldn't retrieve it without pulling over.
The Clippasafe soother saver is basically a piece of round plastic. The designs vary, but the ones I bought were bright yellow. On the back of the plastic disc, which measures just under 2 inches in diameter, is a sturdy clip. The clip works a bit like a clothes peg, in that you squeeze it to open it. As soon as you let go, it closes.
The clip is well designed, so it would be extremely difficult for a child to get their fingers stuck in it.
Attached to the clip is a strip of ribbon, which is about 1cm wide and 6 inches long. At the end of the ribbon are 2 velcro tabs, allowing you to make a loop around your child's dummy. All you then need to do, is clip the plastic disc onto your child's clothing.
Once clipped on, if your child spits their dummy out, or if it falls out accidentally, it won't go on the floor (or disappear altogether) and can easily be located.
This is such a simple idea, but so useful. I'm not one for having a dummy permanently in my child's mouth, but at times they are a lifesaver!
I have never used this device at night and would not recommend doing so. Although the ribbon is probably too short to get tangled around a child's neck, it is just not worth the risk. For me, this product is something to be used when your child has constant supervision.
These soother savers are so cheap - around £1.50 and in my opinion are well worth the money. They just help to make life with a baby that little bit easier.
We recommend the Clippasafe Dummy Saver, a great device which simply clips to your child's clothing with a piece of ribbon attached that loops through the dummy and velcros together. The Clippasafe Dummy Saver will pay for itself many times over!
