I started weaning with baby Ellie approximately 3 weeks ago and although I wanted to use as much 'homemade' food as possible, I decided to begin with some baby rice, as this seemed to be recommended as an ideal first weaning food. I chose to use the packets of 'Cow and Gate' baby rice, as I trusted this brand, having used the baby milk and also, as it is a brand that specialises purely in baby food. Since using the cow and gate baby rice, I have also used the packets of 'creamed porridge' and ' apple & banana wake-up', so my review will be based on my experiences of these three products. The products are all part of the cow & ... Read the complete review

Making the decision to formula feed your baby is a hard one. Not only do you feel incredibly guilty for not being able to do (and in my case, not really wanting to do) one of the most natural things in the world, I have found a lot of people seem to be intent on telling you why breastfeeding is better for your child. As if you haven’t already considered this. What I am trying to say is please do not feel guilty if you have been unable to breastfeed, or have chosen to bottle feed for personal reasons. A happy mother is an essential ingredient for a happy baby and if formula feeding is how you achieve this, then it is no one else’s business to tell you what ... Read the complete review

We all know that Mothers milk is the best, although in a perfect world for so many reasons this is not always possible. When for some reason we cannot give our baby Mums milk then we do need a substitute. When I had my little girl she was born 10 weeks premature. At this age a baby has not learnt to suck yet. We tend to forget that this most simple thing has to be learnt and also needs strength to do so. So my daughter was fed through a tube. She was only 3lb 3oz. I had enough milk to supply the tubes for 2 weeks and so then we had to find a suitable substitute for her. SMA and Cow and Gate milk for "natural arrivals" does ... Read the complete review

As i couldnt breastfeed i had to decide which milk to give my daughter. Not being able to give my daughter the best start was hurtful and i felt guilty but it was something i wasnt able to do. I used SMA throughout my sons 1st year so i tried this with my daughter but she didnt take to it well, she was very sicky and constipated with it so i decided to switch her to Cow and Gate Premium 1. She took to this perfectly, she was sick as much and she was drinking more of it. Her feeds were well spread out and she had a feeding routine. As my daughter started to become hungryer i moved her upto Cow and Gate Premium 2, this satisfys here perfectly. You can buy this ... Read the complete review

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cow & Gate ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cow and Gate was first launched in 1711 as a small grocery shop owned by the gates. Over a hundred years later they had bought many creameries in the UK and Ireland and were becoming very successful in the dairy industry. However with their main product being cream they found themselves with a lot of waste and eventually in 1900 they bought drying agents and began making milk powder for the confectionary industry. Since then they developed their company into what it is today and branched out into many more markets. Their extensive research over the past 100 years has meant they have become a ...
