MY EXPERIENCE WITH COW & GATE
*****************************

What was I feeding my baby?

When my Son Mitchell (now 16 months) started eating solids I was over the moon. He took to eating really well and I had no trouble. I started off giving him Baby rice, he really enjoyed is bless him. As time went on and he got older i started to use the Cow and Gate Jars. His favorite was the "Sunday Lunch". For about 3 months Mitchell was having these jars and was really happy and content with what he was eating.

I was worried that Mitchell might be getting bored of "Sunday Lunch" and "Vegetable and Turkey Casserole" so Me and his dad went out and brought a few different jar's for him to try. One of the included "Lamb Cassreole"

One afternoon when Mitchell was due for his dinner I, as always went into the kitchen to warm it up. Now...alot of Mum's that I know heat the jar up in the microwave or stand it in a saucepan / bowl of boiling water. Ive never warmed it this way, i for some strange reason just didnt take to the idea. I always scooped the contents of the jar into Mitchell's food bowl and then placed it in the microwave to heat up.

I took the "Lamb Casserole" jar out to warm up as I usually do undone the lid and started to scoop out the contents 1 scoop - 2 scoops - 3 "tap" "tap" WHAT???? I thought 3, i tried again, out came the 3rd scoop but to my disgrace on the other end of the spoon was not the "Lamb Casserole" it was something hard. What on earth is that I thought? I got out a plate and scraped what was on the spoon onto it and checked it out.

I shouted to my Partner to come into the kitchen and take a look at what i'd found. I was Disgusted. We was looking at the most biggest chunk of glass that you can ever imagine to be in a jar of this size. I checked the jar that I was using to see if I has broken it but NO this jar was in perfect condition. As my partner picked up the glass and run it under the tap to wash it off we realised that it was the top of another baby food jar.

This means that somebody some where out there had a jar just like ours with the rest of the missing glass.I was furious.
I has a million and one questions running through my head.

What If I had just done what alot of mum's do and warm it up in the jar and fed it to him out of the jar, Mitchell could have eaten smaller parts of it.

The jar must have glass splinters in it that I would have fed to Mitchell if i hadn't have found the larger piece.

How many more jars are out there like this?

When We phoned Cow and Gate to warn them about this product that we had brought they just simply asked us our name and address, asked us the jar expiry date, jar ref number and brand. And told us to send it in to them so that it can be observed. Offering us their Appologies

To this day we have not heard anything about the jar, I have written numerous letter's but not heard anything. They obviously got us to send the jar to them before we could take things further. I have taken pictures on my camera but me being me still havn't got round to getting it develpoed yet but I will do and Cow and Gate will recieve a copy just to remind them of what their jars might actually be containing

I was very very Angry, Upset and Scared. What had I been feeding to my son. Although Mitchell has never rejected any of this food I was still very cautious and I have never used Cow and Gate Jars again. From that day forward I cooked for Mitchell myself, at least I knew what was in the food and where it had been who had touched it etc etc.

Mitchell is now eating anything and everything but his baby brother James (6 months) has never had a jar. He eats everything that we eat. I cook everything myself just for my re-assurance.

Thank you to all who have read this review, I didnt write this review to say that Cow and Gate are not good because they are....For other products.

THIS IS JUST TO MAKE EVERY PARENT EVERYWHERE AWARE OF WHAT THEY ARE FEEDING THEIR CHILD.
