Advantages: Did seem to help wind and sickness

Disadvantages: Very fiddly and takes ages to clean

When I was pregnant the Tommy Tippee bottles were on special offer so I bought loads of these. However when my baby was born he had trouble with wind and the Dr Brown bottles were recommended because of the anti colic mechanism. I know these bottles are popular with celebrities and decided only the best for my baby. These bottles are easy to hold and you can clearly see when the baby is nearing the end of the bottle (something that I couldn't do with the Tommy Tippee bottles). Plus I did feel that my baby had a lot less wind and wasn't sick so often, however this could simply be put down to him getting older and growing out of these things. On the negative these bottles are really fiddly there are so many bits to wash, sterilise and put together that is can become very time consuming. Plus on a few occasions I put hot water into the bottle which then rather dangerously squirted up and out of the bottle when I put the teet on and shock the bottle. My son is now over a year old and I still use these bottles for him because he is used to them. However I'm now currently pregnant and will be buying Advent bottles for my new baby. Firstly because I just can't seem to get the Dr Brown bottles properly clean. When you buy them they come with a tiny brush to clean all the little tubes and holes but this just isn't enough. Secondly, Avent have a huge range of other products that can go with their bottles e.g. their breast pump, clip on handles etc - I can't seem to find any other Dr Brown products anywhere to compliment these bottles. These bottles are OK, but more gimicky than anything. You're better off going for a more straight forward traditional bottle.

Summary: They are OK but only if you've got the time to mess around with them
